Kašperské Hory (Bergreichenstein) are a unique place with a rich history. They deserve to be presented to visitors in an equally unique and interesting way. That is why we decided to set up a permanent exhibition of building sets on the square in Kašperské Hory, which will introduce all visitors not only to this famous history, but also to local legends and tales. We believe that LEGO® and other building sets bring together generations, girls, boys, parents, grandparents, in short, everyone.
Children can look forward to thousands of figures, which they can also purchase in the shop on the ground floor, dads can enjoy modern technology and lots of information, and for moms and grandmothers, we have preserved and restored two beautiful tiled stoves in the house, and they can look forward to floral motifs and mosaics made of bricks.
The entire exhibition will feature interactive elements: sound and light effects, LCD panels with animations and language versions. QR codes will provide additional information about the exhibit, historical information, and interesting facts.
As visitors, you will be able to walk through the exhibition just for fun. If you wish, you will find either an LCD panel or a QR code next to each exhibit, where you can learn more about the history or legend that the model represents. The exhibition is therefore also suitable for school trips. Our goal is for pupils and students to acquire some basic knowledge in a non-coercive way, e.g., who built Kašperk Castle, when and why, what was the ethnic composition of the region, how the Czech Kingdom was constituted over the centuries, etc.
In life, we remember best what is connected with our emotions, and LEGO® and other building sets are all about emotions! :o)
Ondřej Kafka (*1978)
"I have been working in communications and marketing since 2005. In 2017, I settled in Šumava and immediately fell in love with the local nature and people. I am a patriot, proud of our country's history and what our ancestors have built.
As a little boy, I loved LEGO® building sets, and today I realize once again that they have an ingenious ability to connect. Everything and everyone.
With this exhibition, I want to contribute to greater awareness of the region's history and, last but not least, help the tourist infrastructure in the Kašperské Hory."
Hundreds of thousands of bricks, thousands of hours of work. The history of Kašperské Hory deserves it.
